The Mexican’s F1 career was already looking bleak. After rather mediocre performances at Sauber, McLaren, Force India and Racing Point, it seemed he would not find a place for 2021. But then he won his first race at the 2020 As-Sahir Grand Prix, convincing Red Bull to give it a go. He is now enjoying the best period of his career with the Austrian stable (at least in terms of results). He finished fourth overall in 2021, third in 2022 and was runner-up last year. Although he achieved his greatest success in the 2023 season, his performances were less than ideal as he was often well behind teammate Verstappen.
